Synopsis:
The heir to a family fortune discovers that a curse has been placed on it, put there centuries before by a band of samurai warriors. Directed by Nomura Yoshitaro, this suspense movie was an immense hit when it was first released. With a budget of over US$30 million, the film grossed more than US$1.2 billion in Japan alone. Adapted from the novel of the same name by suspense master Yokomizo Seishi and scripted by Hashimoto Shinobu, the writer of such Kurosawa classics as Rashomon and Seven Samurai, it was remade by Ichikawa Kon in the nineties, albeit in a much inferior version.
